Control of the Microstructure in a Al5Co15Cr30Fe25Ni25 High Entropy Alloy through Thermo-Mechanical and Thermal Treatments

The effect of thermos-mechanical processing and thermal treatments on the microstructure a single phase fcc-based Al5Co15Cr30Fe25Ni25 high entropy alloy is evaluated in this study. As-cast ingots were thermo-mechanically processed following different routes involving forging, cold rolling, warm rolling or hot rolling. In addition, microstructural evolution highly deformed rolled sheets with annealing temperature was analyzed. data reveal that high-volume fraction commences to recrystallize from 600 °C. absence recrystallization, i.e., below °C, hardness annealed samples very close. When recrystallization takes place, treated alloys exhibit higher than because recrystallized grains are strengthened by dislocations generated further steps while condition free dislocations. Maximum hardening found for warm-rolled at 450 °C cold-rolled plus 500 1 h. Diffusion solute atoms core dislocations, pinning its movement, accounts additional hardening.
